2 Kids Shot, Father Dead In Dade City Shooting, Deputies Say

DADE CITY, Fla. (WFLA) — One man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a shooting in Dade City, according to deputies.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said they are investigating the shooting that happened around 1 p.m. in the Johns Road area of Dade City after two teen girls broke into a fight.

Authorities said several gathered around the fighting teens one or more people open fire, striking three people. Deputies said an 11-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, and a man described only as the father of the 1-year-old boy, were shot.

Deputies said the father later died as a result of his injuries.

“This is the worst nightmare for any parent.” Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said.

The children injured in the shooting were not involved in the initial fight, deputies added.

An investigation is underway. Further information is expected to be released.
