1. Get pumped for Tampa Riverfest this weekend. Riverfest is a 2-day event held Friday, May 6 at Curtis Hixon Park starting at 4 p.m. with music and Taste of the Riverwalk, which highlights the dining options available along the Riverwalk as well as food and dessert trucks. On Saturday May, 7 the fun starts at 10 a.m. with more music, TacoFest, and the Florida Weiner Dog Races at Curtis Hixon and additional activities, such as the Paddle Board Invasion at Water Works Park. 2. The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested and charged a Tampa man with driving under the influence, causing a death, in connection with a crash Tuesday on I-75. 31-year-old Michael Troy Jones was charged with DUI manslaughter and DUI serious injuries. (Tampa Patch)

3. A Pinellas County deputy accidentally drove over a woman who was lying in the sand Wednesday afternoon at St. Pete Beach. The incident happened just after 1 p.m. She was injured and rushed to the hospital. Emergency crews say her injuries were not life-threatening. (WTSP)

4. Joseph Citro, who took four tries before winning a spot on Tampa City Council, was elected chairperson of the seven-member body for the next year by a 4-3 vote Thursday morning. Citro was nominated by Charlie Miranda and supported by Luis Viera. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times)

5. The Tampa EDITION will be hosting an in-person hiring event today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the Tampa EDITION Recruitment Center. The hotel will host an casting call where job seekers can apply to work in the new luxury hotel concept. Job offers will be made on the spot. (That’s So Tampa)
