TAMPA, FL — A Palm Harbor man suffered critical injuries Sunday after being struck by Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputy on Falkenburg Road in Tampa Sunday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 7:10 a.m., the 56-year-old deputy from Tampa was driving a marked Chevy Tahoe south on Falkenburg Road when he struck the pedestrian who was walking in the southbound travel lane of Falkenburg Road north of the Selmon Expressway.

The deputy said he was unable to see the pedestrian because it was still dark outside.
